About

I began this by accident really; as a photographer, I’m always looking for something to shoot, and after a while, my husband David became absolutely tired of always finding himself at the end of my lense. I began shooting landscapes whenever I could, but after a couple of financial mishaps, we could afford neither to go out on shoots nor to go out to eat. We cracked open the cookbooks and began eating in a lot more.

It was during this time that I first started shooting food. There were some recipes that were all but lost to time, and I decided to archive them on the computer so they’d never be lost, with photos for reference. That I uploaded the photos to flickr–or that people liked them–was just something that happened, and soon I was posting recipes to Flickr to accompany the photos. I joined several food groups on flickr, and from there, it just naturally turned to blogging.

What you’ll find here are recipes that work for me, recipes that I like. Unlike other food blogs, this is not a record of what I ate today–some of these are from days were I made several recipes in one day, but I’ll upload them separately. I’m essentially trying to recreate the family cookbook online and searchable with catagories that make sense to me. If you like them and utilize them, that’s awesome!

Most of the recipes are also available in cookbooks by the original chef who created it–or on the chef’s website. I will always post a link to the original so you can get it from the source, as I’m known to make corrections and substitutions, as I am a notoriously picky eater. I also don’t eat red meat (and yes, pork is red meat) so you’ll have to go elsewhere for your beef and pork.  I do cook vegan and vegetarian recipes, which I usually make to help me get my 5 cups of vegetables a day into my diet, but there are also chicken and fish recipes, so be warned — I may be vegetarian friendly, but I’m not vegetarian; if meat freaks you out, you’ll probably not want to subscribe to the blog’s RSS feed and just stick to the vegetarian & vegan categories.

If you have a recipe you’d like me to try, email it to me!
